I could specifically integrate my newfound technology skills for podcasting into a class activity or a hypothetical class several ways. For example, if I were to be absent and knew I was going to be absent, I could create a podcast on whatever lessons I wanted. Also if a student was absent I could send them a link to the website where my podcast would be located. If that student had a computer he could complete his homework before he came back to school. Also for snow days, I could create special podcasts. Any student that has access to a computer could listen to the podcast and do the activities that it states.
For this podcast the subject is reading. The grade level is first. The CSO that is related to this podcast is RLA.O.1.3.1 - listen, recite and respond to familiar stories, poems, nursery rhymes, songs and stories with repeated patterns (e.g., retell in sequence, relate information to own life, describe character – setting – plot, engage in creative and dramatic play, imagine beyond the story). The West Virginia standard that this podcast consists of is Standard 3: Listening, Speaking, and Media Literacy RLA.S.2.3 Students will apply listening, speaking and media literacy skills and strategies to communicate with a variety of audiences and for different purposes. The students can get into groups if they wanted, but the podcast is designed for individual work. I would record, store, and replay the podcast by saving it to the website and giving the web address to the students so they could have access to it when they needed it.
What did I do? For this assignment, I reflected what I did for my podcast and for my podcast script.
What did I learn? I learned about the podcast I created. I thought more about the grade level, the CSO's, objectives, standards, etc. and I reflected on all of these things.
How could I use it? I could use this assignment in my classroom to teach my students that reflection is very important. It makes you think about the assignment you completed and gives it more meaning.
