Get Videos

What did I do? I used the Free Video Converter Software to complete this assignment. I went onto the website and clicked download. It automatically downloaded and I accepted the terms and policies and then began the rest of the assignment. I went to YouTube and found a really great video of a teacher teaching how to write certain letters. Here is the YouTube Video. The letters were F, E, D, B, R, M, and N were taught by a song that all kids sang and danced to. It was really cute and would be a fun and exciting way for students to learn certain letters. I saved this video in the wmv format. And it is now saved to my computer and I can upload it at anytime. I can post the video as well.

What did I learn? I learned how to convert a video on YouTube and put it on my computer. I learned about the different formats that videos can be saved under and which one I should save videos under.

How could I use it? I can definitely use this in my classroom. My science professor told me a few days ago that schools are now not allowing teachers to use YouTube videos in their classrooms. So this is a great tool for me to convert the videos so that I will be allowed to share them with my students.

You can watch it below.

Photostory

What did I do? My Photostory Video is about the Earthquake that happened in Haiti. I think students need to understand whats going on in the world. I also think this is a good way to introduce whats going on in the world they live in. The need to know about the different weather disasters and the effects from them. To complete this assignment I uploaded PhotoStory and then began importing pictures from Google. I followed all the directions and completed the assignment the best I could. I learned a lot from this assignment. I learned how easy it is to create stories from pictures. I also learned that is would be great to use in the classroom. I think students would be much more interested in the material if I put it all in PhotoStory.

What did I learn? I learned how pictures can truly tell a story. Also I learned how to use PhotoStory. It allowed me to see that there are several ways that I can alter my teachings and that using PhotoStory would be great to teach a concept to my students.

How could I use it? I could use PhotoStory in my classroom to teach many lessons. Especially lessons that are dramatic and meaningful.

Video

Here is my video I created using an old Powerpoint presentation.

What did I do? I used an old PowerPoint presentation to create a video on YouTube.

What did I learn? I learned how neat and effective videos can be. Sometimes videos will be a more effective way to teach students rather than using the normal PowerPoint presentations.

How could I use it? I could teach several lessons to my students by changing PowerPoints to videos. I think it would be a nice change for them.

Jeopardy Game

What did I do? I created my Jeopardy game based on the moon phases I learned about in a science class. In the elementary schools, moon phases have to be learned. It is a rather hard and difficult concept for many students to grasp. I thought if I created the game based on the moon phases then students might be able to learn them easier and in a friendlier way. Here is my Jeopardy Game.

WV Content Standard: SC.O.2.2.17 - understand that the moon has phases.

National Content Standard: Earth and Space Science – As a result of their activities in grades K-4, students should develop an understanding of properties and earth materials, objects in the sky, and changes in earth and sky.

What did I learn? I learned how to incorporate facts into a fun game for students. I learned how to put facts/answers into the right spots on the presentation.

How could I use it? I could use this in my classroom several ways, but I think it would be best to use it for a test review.

What did I do? I used my Delicious Account to create my Wordle image.

What did I learn? I learned how to use different tools to create an image that combined many words.

How could I use it? I could use this in my classroom in many ways. I think it would be great to use it for vocabulary words and for different reading stories.

Ignite Presenation

What did I do? Here is my Powerpoint on saying no to drugs. I used the Ignite rubric to complete my presentation. SlideShare wouldn't allow me to time each slide. Here is my presentation is Slideshare. I was able to time my presenation by saving it to GoogleDocs. So here is my timed presentation in GoogleDocs.

What did I learn? I learned how to put a presentation on Slideshare to make it viewable to the public.

How could I use it? I could use it in my classroom to show students that there are several ways you can view a PowerPoint. You can view presentations in so many ways depending on how you save them.
